Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) 2026 Applications

 

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology was established on January 1, 2005, following the merger of Cape and Peninsula Technikons, which date back to the early 1900s. Today, it stands as the only university of technology in the Western Cape, and the largest university in the region, serving 30,000+ students

 

Faculties at CPUT

CPUT comprises six faculties, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications:

  • Applied Sciences

  • Business & Management Sciences

  • Education

  • Engineering & the Built Environment

  • Health & Wellness Sciences

  • Informatics & Design

These faculties span a broad range of practical and academic disciplines tailored to today’s world of work.

Campuses & Service Points:

 

CPUT has five main campuses:

  • Bellville Campus (administrative hub; houses Applied Sciences, Engineering, Health & Wellness) 

  • District Six (Cape Town) Campus – home to Business, Informatics & Design 

  • Mowbray Campus – primarily for Informatics & Design 

  • Granger Bay Campus – houses the Cape Town Hotel School at V&A Waterfront 

  • Wellington Campus – in the Boland region

This structure gives CPUT a distinct presence across the Cape Metro, with modern facilities and strong community links.

 

2026 Applications: Important Dates & Details

  • Opening Date: Monday, 12 May 2025

  • Closing Dates:

    • Undergraduate certificates/diplomas: 30 September 2025 (31 July for some health/emergency programmes)

    • Bachelor’s and advanced qualifications: 30 September 2025 (31 July for BEd and health-related degrees)

    • Research-based Master’s & Doctorates: Closing on 13 March 2026

    • Application Mode: Online only—no manual submissions for SA applicants 

  • Programme selections: Up to 3 choices per applicant (undergrad/postgrad), and RPL is limited to 1 choice

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official CPUT website.

  2. Click “Apply” and create your account.

  3. Prepare and upload certified supporting documents:

    • South Africans: ID, matric certificate/statement, June report (if in matric) 

  4. Choose up to 3 programmes; make sure you meet specific entry requirements (language, subjects, and programme-specific documents, e.g., portfolios for design courses) .

  5. Apply early—high-demand courses may close before the deadline .
