How to Get Your Matric Results in 2025

 

Congratulations on completing your matric exams! The next step is accessing your results, which can be done through several convenient methods. This guide will provide you with detailed information, including specific SMS numbers and USSD codes.

 

Requirements to Pass Matric


Higher Certificate Pass

To achieve a Higher Certificate Pass, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Achieve at least 40% in your Home Language.
  • Obtain at least 40% in two other subjects.
  • Score at least 30% in three additional subjects.
  • Pass a minimum of 6 out of 7 subjects.

Diploma Pass

To achieve a Diploma Pass, you must meet these requirements:

  • Achieve at least 40% in your Home Language.
  • Obtain at least 40% in three other subjects (excluding Life Orientation).
  • Score at least 30% in two additional subjects.
  • Pass a minimum of 6 out of 7 subjects.

Bachelor Pass

For a Bachelor Pass, which qualifies you for university entrance, you need to:

  • Achieve at least 40% in your Home Language.
  • Obtain at least 50% in four other subjects.
  • Score at least 30% in two additional subjects.
  • Pass a minimum of 6 out of 7 subjects.

Distinction

A distinction is awarded when a student scores 80% or higher in a subject.

1. Online Access

The most straightforward way to check your matric results is online. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Department of Basic Education (DBE) Website:
    • Visit www.education.gov.za.
    • Click on the “Examinations” tab and select “Matric Results.”
    • Enter your examination number and other required details to view your results.
  • Provincial Education Department Websites:
    • Some provinces provide access through their specific websites. Check your provincial education department’s website for more details.
    • MATRIC CLASS OF 2024!!
      Access your results from anywhere by visiting results.gauteng.gov.za and enter your exam number to view your results.
      Matric results will be available as soon as they are released.

2. SMS Service

You can receive your results via SMS by following these steps:

  • Step-by-Step Guide:
    1. Send an SMS to 35658 with your ID number and examination number.
    2. Example: If your ID number is 1234567890123 and your exam number is 123456789, your SMS should read 1234567890123 123456789.
    3. You will receive your results once they are available.
    4. Note: Each SMS costs R1.50.

3. USSD Service

Another mobile option is the USSD service:

  • How to Use USSD:
    1. Dial *120*35658# on your phone.
    2. Follow the prompts by entering your ID and examination numbers.
    3. The system will display your results.
    4. Note: A small fee will be charged for using this service.

4. Newspapers

Major newspapers will publish matric results on the official release date. You can search for your examination number in the relevant section to find your results.

5. School

Your school will have a hard copy of your results. You can collect them in person, and this is also an excellent opportunity to receive guidance from your teachers on the next steps.

6. Exam Center
