Application Procedure for New Students

You are considered a New Student if:

• You are applying or intend to apply to Gert Sibande TVET College for the first time in a qualification.

Steps for New Applicants

1. Placement Assessment Test

• All new National Certificate Vocational (NCV) students are required to write a Placement Assessment Test at any of the campuses.
• The Placement Assessment is a selection and placement tool, not an IQ test.

2. Online Application

• Apply online using the Gert Sibande College Application Wizard, available on the College website.
• Important: All new applicants must capture their school-leaving subjects and upload supporting documents on the application system.

3. Apply for NSFAS Bursary

• All new students must apply for an NSFAS bursary.
• The following documentation is required for your application:
  • Certified copy of your ID
  • Certified copy of your latest results
  • If dependent on parents/guardian/spouse: Certified ID copies of parents/guardian/spouse
  • If you have a disability: Medical proof of your condition
  • Foreign Students:
    • Certified copies of passport (documents must not be older than 3 months)
    • SAQA-approved foreign qualification
    • Valid study permit
• Note: All documents become the property of the College once submitted.

4. Document Submission

• Mandatory: Upload certified copies of your latest school results and ID/passport to the application system.
• For students from another TVET College: Upload all your previous institution results, including a transfer letter.

5. Application Review

• A selection committee will review your application and academic records.
• If you meet the requirements, you will be notified.
• Alternatively, check your status on the I-enabler system under “Review Application Status” to see if you have been provisionally accepted or rejected.
• Ensure the contact number you provide is valid.

6. Final Approval and Registration

• Once your application is approved, you will be notified.
• Alternatively, check your status on the I-enabler system under “Review Application Status.”
• Note: You have 3 days to complete your registration after notification of your admission status.
• Important: No final approvals will be made during the application process. Your application status depends on your latest results and the College’s selection criteria.
• Provisional Acceptance does not guarantee you space; you will only be considered registered once you receive proof of registration from the system.

Steps to Capture School-Leaving Subjects

Step 1:

• Enter the year and month (e.g., 202411) of the latest results passed that you will be submitting for your application.
• Select the type of pass and subjects passed, then type the rating and symbol for Mid-Year (if still studying) or Final Year (if completed).

Step 2:

• Verify that all subjects and results have been captured before saving.

Step 3:

• Click “Save.”

Reminder:

• After capturing your academic application, upload an electronic copy of your results and other documents.
• Alternatively, you can send all supporting documents to the email address of your campus of interest.
