Note that the undergraduate admission requirements are different for each faculty:
Bachelor’s Degree Study
To be eligible for admission to degree study, applicants need to meet the minimum requirements for eligibility:
- Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate need to pass a minimum of four subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better from a designated list of subjects.

- Languages (one language of learning and teaching at a higher education institution and two other recognised language subjects)

- Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
- Applicants holding non-South African school-leaving certificates must qualify for a matriculation exemption certificate. For more information please visit the website of the Matriculation Board.

When to apply:
Applications open on 3 April 2023 and close on 31 July 2023 for admission to undergraduate studies at UCT in 2024. Please try to submit your application as soon as possible. We do not consider late applications.
For applicants who would like more information before submitting an application, there is an annual UCT Open Day aimed at high school learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12, their families and teachers. This year UCT Open Day is from 10:00 to 15:00 on Saturday, 13 May 2023.
