
Hortgro 2024 Agriculture Bursary Scheme
Description:
HORTGRO, AgriSETA, and the Deciduous Fruit Industry Development Trust fund the HORTGRO Bursary Scheme, which assists undergraduate students in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, and Business Management.
Currently, 27 students are taking advantage of this programme. HORTGRO is committed to advancing the deciduous fruit industry through research, technology, manufacturing, transformation, markets, and communication. Their ultimate goal is to ensure that South African fruit is of the highest quality and produced sustainably, while also empowering growers and transforming the industry.
Bursary Description:
The Hortgro Bursary Program provides financial support to undergraduate and postgraduate students who are interested in pursuing studies in horticulture, viticulture, and related agricultural fields. The program covers tuition fees, accommodation, and a stipend for books and living expenses, and offers opportunities for practical experience through internships and mentorship programs.

Requirements and eligibility:
To be considered for the HORTGRO Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a South African citizen
- Have completed or currently completing Matric
- Be enrolled or intending to enrol in a degree program in one of the specified fields
- Be registered or intend to register at a recognized South African tertiary institution
- Meet the admission criteria for their chosen course of study.
To achieve its goals, Hortgro requires trained, skilled and passionate people.
