About the Old Mutual Education Trust (OMET):
Since 2005, OMET has been a key part of Old Mutual’s commitment to “Caring for Communities” through education. We provide financial support and comprehensive student services to empower our scholarship recipients and build a thriving society.
What Does the Scholarship Offer?
- Partial Funding: R70,000 per student annually for undergraduate studies at any South African public higher education institution.
- Additional Support:
- A laptop for each student.
- Tutoring and peer support programs.
- Access to counselling services for students and their immediate families.
- Workshops, orientation programs, and vacation work opportunities.
- Mentorship and internship placements to help you transition into the workforce.
Eligibility Criteria: To apply, you must be one of the following:
- A fully paid-up union member.
- The spouse or child (under 25 years) of a union member.
- A full-time, permanent employee of one of the participating unions, or their spouse or child (under 25 years).
- Studying towards your first undergraduate degree at a South African public university.
Important Notes:
- Preference is given to Grade 12/Matric applicants.
- Selection is based on academic performance and is conducted by a committee of higher education professionals.
