The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management is excited to invite applications for the Road Traffic Management Learnership Programme. This programme offers unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 35 the opportunity to gain essential skills and training in road traffic management, with the goal of fostering future careers in this sector.
The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management (CSTM) in South Africa is primarily responsible for enhancing road safety, traffic management, and ensuring compliance with traffic laws. Here are the key functions and initiatives associated with this department:
- Road Traffic Management: The department is tasked with managing and regulating road traffic, which includes enforcing traffic laws, overseeing road safety campaigns, and implementing measures to reduce accidents and fatalities on the roads.
- Driver and Vehicle Safety: They ensure that drivers comply with licensing requirements and that vehicles on the road meet safety standards. This involves conducting inspections and facilitating driver training programs.

Programme Details:
- Duration: Three years
- Stipend: R3000 per month
- Training: Professional road traffic management training, including both theoretical and practical components
Minimum Requirements:
- Age: 18 to 35 years (must be unemployed)
- Education:
- A Grade 12 Certificate or a Vocational National Certificate Level 4.
- Grade 12 learners who have not yet received their final results may apply by submitting their Grade 11 results instead.
Required Documents:
- RSA Identity Document: Proof of South African citizenship.
- Police Criminal Clearance Report: Must be issued by the South African Police Service (SAPS) within the last three weeks before application.
- Medical Report: A report from a registered health professional, confirming physical fitness for rigorous training (with an official stamp).
- Proof of Residence: Official proof from a Municipality or Traditional Council (statements of account will not be accepted).
Additional Requirements:
- No Visible Tattoos
- Ineligibility for Applicants Previously in Public Service Learnerships
- Age Restriction: Applicants over the age of 36 at the time of the application will not be considered.
Important Application Notes:
- Applicants must complete the updated Z83 form (effective from 1 January 2021).
- Applications should be thorough and accurate, with all required documentation included. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
