Available Courses:

  1. Basic Fire Awareness Course (BFA)
    • Duration: 1 Day
    • This introductory course is perfect for those new to fire safety. You’ll learn about fire hazards, how to use basic fire-fighting equipment and emergency procedures.
  2. Basic Fire Fighting/Fire Marshal Course (BFC)
    • Duration: 1 Day
    • Learn the essential skills to manage fire emergencies, including the correct use of fire extinguishers and evacuation procedures.
  3. Intermediate Fire Fighting Course (IFF)
    • Duration: 3 Days
    • Dive deeper into fire-fighting techniques, focusing on extinguishing fires in various environments and understanding fire behaviour.
  4. Hazardous Material Handling Course (HMH)
    • Duration: 2 Weeks
    • Gain specialized knowledge in identifying and managing hazardous materials in emergency situations. This course is crucial for anyone working in industrial safety.
  5. Fire Fighter 1 & Hazmat Awareness Course (FF1)
    • Duration: 8 Weeks
    • This dual-purpose course combines fire-fighting with hazardous material awareness, making you a versatile asset in any emergency response team.
  6. Fire Fighter 1 & Hazmat Operations Course (FF2)
    • Duration: 8 Weeks
    • Expand on your knowledge from FF1 with advanced hazardous material operations and fire-fighting techniques in various settings.
  7. Breathing Apparatus Course (SCBA)
    • Duration: 1 Week
    • Learn how to safely operate breathing apparatus equipment in fire and rescue situations where air quality is compromised.
  8. Advanced Breathing Apparatus Course (ASCBA)
    • Duration: 2 Weeks
    • This advanced course builds on SCBA knowledge, preparing you for the most challenging rescue missions in confined or hazardous spaces.
  9. Confined Space Entry Course (CSE)
    • Duration: 1 Week
    • Specialized training focused on safely navigating and operating in confined spaces, an essential skill for rescuers in urban environments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Age: 18 to 35 years (must be unemployed).
  • Education: A Grade 12 Certificate or a Vocational National Certificate Level 4. Grade 12 learners who have not yet received their final results may apply by submitting their Grade 11 results instead.

 

Required Documents:

  • RSA Identity Document: Proof of South African citizenship.
  • Police Criminal Clearance Report: Must be issued by the South African Police Service (SAPS) within the last three weeks before application.
  • Medical Report: A report from a registered health professional, confirming physical fitness for rigorous training (with an official stamp).
  • Proof of Residence: Valid proof of your current residence.

Additional Requirements:

  • No Visible Tattoos: Applicants with visible tattoos will not be considered for the program.
  • Ineligibility for Applicants Previously in Public Service Learnerships: Those who have already participated in a public service learnership are not eligible to apply.
  • Age Restriction: Applicants over the age of 36 at the time of application will not be considered.
