Are you passionate about pursuing a career in healthcare? The Mpumalanga College of Nursing is inviting applications for the Diploma in Nursing (R171) for the year 2025. If you are between the ages of 18 and 36 and dream of making a difference in people’s lives through nursing, this opportunity is for you! Successful applicants will have the chance to study towards a three-year Diploma in Nursing, opening the door to a rewarding career in healthcare.

 

Who can apply:

The Department of Health has specific requirements for those who wish to apply. Only applicants who meet all of the following compulsory minimum criteria will be considered:

  • A matriculation/senior certificate that qualifies you for admission to a diploma or degree.
  • English at Level 4 (HG D/SG C) or higher.
  • Life Science/Biology/Physiology at Level 4 (HG E/SG D) or higher.
  • Mathematics at Level 3 (HG E/SG D) or Maths Literacy at Level 5 or higher.
  • Physical Science/Agriculture/Geography, with a pass at Level 3 (HG E/SG D) or higher.
  • A minimum Admission Point Score (APS) of 23 from your six highest subjects.
  • South African citizens who are permanent residents of Mpumalanga.
  • Applicants must not be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) for any other nursing qualification.

What successful applicants can expect

If your application is successful, you will be required to:

  • Sign an agreement/contract with the Mpumalanga Department of Health.
  • Attend theoretical knowledge training and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) at accredited healthcare facilities, as per the South African Nursing Council requirements.

 

Required documents if shortlisted:

During the interview process, shortlisted candidates will need to provide the following:

  • Original Matriculation Certificate (all certificates will be sent to UMALUSI for verification).
  • Copy of your ID, certified within the last three months.
  • Proof of residence from the local municipal authority or tribal authority.

  • Closing date: 25 October 2024
  • Please note: Due to the high volume of applications, only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted. If you have not received feedback by 31 January 2025, consider your application unsuccessful.
