
Cape Peninsula University of Technology 2025 Extended Late Application
The Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon merged to form the Cape Peninsula University of Technology on January 1, 2005. This merger was part of a national transformation process that transformed South Africa’s higher education landscape.
Today, it is the only university of technology in the Western Cape and the largest university in the region, with over 30,000 students, multiple campuses and service points, and over 70 programmes.
The 2025 application timelines have closed except for the following:
- Few programmes where the application closing date has been extended until 13 January 2025
- Few programmes that is available to Returning CPUT students only, from Tuesday, 07 January 2025 until Friday, 10 January 2025e.:
- CPUT students who have taken a gap in their studies and did not apply during the application timeline, and wish to continue with their studies, or
- CPUT students who wish to complete their phasing out programmes.
2025 late applications will be available only for identified programmes with available spaces for the following application categories:
- Applicants who exhausted only 1 or 2 options out of the maximum of 3 choices for applications submitted during the normal application timelines.
- Applicants who did not apply during the normal application timelines (maximum of 3 choices)
- Regretfully, no 4thchoice, following the Dean’s Discretionary process, will be considered during this late application timeframe
- Students transferring from other universities
- CPUT students who have taken a gap in their studies
- Phasing out programmes (where applicable)
Please note that the closing date for Full Research Master’s and Doctoral Studies remains open until 14 March 2025 regardless of the above conditions applicable to late applications only.

Only applications that followed the outlined application processes above will be considered as an application.
Manual application submission will not be considered except otherwise stated in the list provided i.e. few non-degree purpose progammes.
Postal Services (including courier services) will not be considered.
Due to limited residence space, the residence department does not accept late applications. Academic acceptance to CPUT do not constitute residence acceptance or placement. It is therefore recommended that students make alternative arrangements for accommodation.
