UP boasts nine faculties, including the only Faculty of Veterinary Science in South Africa, the continent’s top Faculty of Law, and a globally ranked Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

Applications for 2026 study programmes at the University of Pretoria open on 1 April 2025.
All applications must be submitted online.

Online Application Information:
Applications to UP for the 2026 academic year must be completed via the UP Online Application System. You will need:
- Internet access
- A valid and regularly accessed email address
- Certified copies of your documents (uploaded online)
As soon as your application is submitted, you’ll receive a student number (EMPLID) via email.
Application Fees:
- South African citizens: R300
- International applicants: USD $30
Application fees are non-refundable.
Application Fee Waiver:
- If your household income is R150 000 or less per annum, the application fee is waived. You will need to upload proof of income during Step 12 of the online application.

Student Accommodation:
UP offers 29 residences across its campuses — but space is limited! If you want to stay in residence, make sure you indicate this in your application.
Residences are available on Hatfield, Hillcrest, Groenkloof, Onderstepoort, and Prinshof campuses.
