The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is recruiting for entry-level Police Trainees and invites applications from all races and genders, as well as from young, energetic, intelligent, physically and mentally fit individuals dedicated to serving the City of Tshwane by pursuing a career in policing for enlistment in the Metro Policing Training Programme.

Minimum Requirements for TMPD Police Trainee Applications:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate – must be submitted with your application
- Valid manual driving licence – candidates must pass a TMPD practical driving test
- Clear criminal record – no past convictions or pending cases; fingerprints must be provided
- Must not be listed on the sexual or child offenders register
- Must not have been dismissed from a government department due to misconduct
- South African citizen and resident of Tshwane – proof of residence and affidavit required if surnames differ from registered property owner
- Age between 18 and 35 years
- Medically fit – medical certificate required confirming fitness for strenuous activity
- Must pass a physical fitness evaluation and psychometric assessment
- Proficiency in English – written and verbal
- No visible tattoos when wearing a police uniform
- Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm under the Firearms Control Act (Act 60 of 2000)
- Must be willing to sign and uphold the TMPD Code of Conduct

Primary functions:
Successful candidates will serve as functional metro police officials to uphold and enforce the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996). As such, they will be deployed to carry out one or more of the following municipal police service functions:
- Traffic policing is subject to any legislation relating to road traffic
- Policing municipal by-laws and regulations, which are the responsibility of the municipality in question
- Preventing crime
