What Does the Nedbank Bursary Cover:

The Nedbank External Bursary provides financial support for full-time studies and is designed to ease the financial burden on deserving students.

Successful applicants can expect funding to assist with university-related expenses throughout their studies.

 

To qualify for the Nedbank Bursary 2027, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Intend to study towards their first undergraduate or honours qualification in 2027.
  • Be accepted or provisionally accepted to study full-time at a recognised South African public university or university of technology.
  • Study within an approved STEM or Green Economy field.
  • Have passed Mathematics in Matric (Mathematics Literacy will not be accepted).
  • Achieve an average of at least 65% in the year of application.
  • Achieve a minimum of 65% in subjects relevant to the intended qualification.
  • Demonstrate proven financial need based on household income.
  • Obtain parental or legal guardian consent if under the age of 18.

Documents Required for Your Application

  • Applicants must submit the following supporting documents:

If You Are Currently in Grade 12

  • Certified copy of your South African ID.
  • Grade 11 final results.
  • Current Grade 12 mid-year results.

First-Year University Students

  • Certified copy of your Matric certificate.
  • Current university mid-year results.

Second and Third-Year Students

  • Most recent academic results.
  • Current mid-year results.

Additional Documents

  • Proof of admission to a South African public university or university of technology.
  • Completed Financial Check Affidavit signed by the applicant and parent or guardian.
  • Latest three months’ bank statements.

Additional Financial Documents for Shortlisted Applicants

If shortlisted, applicants and income-earning household members may be required to submit:

  • Certified copies of parents’ or guardians’ IDs.
  • Latest payslips and employment letters.
  • Income and expenditure statements.
  • Home loan statements and municipal accounts (where applicable).
  • IRP5, IT3 and IT12 forms for commission earners.
  • Pension slips or grant statements.
  • Three months’ bank statements for all income earners in the household.
