Department Water and Sanitation Bursary

 

 

Bursaries will be allocated based on a balanced consideration of the following factors:

• Academic performance
• Race and gender
• Financial need
• Need of DWS in reference to the specific qualifications

 

Successful applicants to the bursary scheme receive the following support:

• Full tertiary registration and tuition costs
• Residence and meal fees
• Book allowance
• An annual personal allowance

 

Currently, bursaries for full-time pre and post-graduate studies are granted on an annual basis to learners at the following South African universities:

Obligations:

DWS will require bursars who obtain their qualifications to join Water Learning Academy on a fixed-term contract for a period of a maximum of three (3) years.

5. Applications will open on 01 May 2024 and the closing date is 30 September 2024. Applications received after this date will not be considered.
6. Information pertaining to the Department of Water and Sanitation external bursary can be found on the web page (http://www.dws.gov.za/LearningA).
7. Applicants who do not receive written communication within 3 months after the closing date should consider their application unsuccessful.
8. For 2025, the Department of Water and Sanitation will consider applications only for 1st year students studying towards the following qualifications:

 

• BSc/BEng in Civil; Mechanical and Electrical
• BSc in Hydrology; Geohydrology; Water Project Management, Environmental and Water Sciences
• BSc (Hons) in Hydrology; Geohydrology; Water Project Management, Environmental and Water Sciences
• National 3-year Diploma/BEng Tech in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering
  (Heavy Current) and Water Care.

The bursary awards target the previously disadvantaged and impoverished persons from poverty-stricken and rural
communities. Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
