Eligibility:
- All qualified candidates
- South African citizens who are permanent residents within the jurisdiction of Cape Town (proof required)
- Aged between 18 and 34 years old
- Currently unemployed (Students & EPWP staff eligible to apply)
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric certificate – recently certified copy required)
- Proficient in English and at least one other official language
- Medically and physically fit for strenuous training
- Valid manual driving licence (minimum Code B)
- No criminal record
- No visible tattoos in uniform
- Ability to work in teams and under pressure
Mandatory Training & Assessments:
Trainees must complete:
- Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Traffic Law Enforcement
- Law Enforcement Skills Program (SP4/2012)
Candidates will undergo:
- Written assessment and interview
- Physical assessments (elimination-based testing)
- Driver assessment
- Drug test at a City testing venue
- Criminal background check (ID & fingerprints)
- City medical evaluation
- Psychological assessments (ongoing)
- Mandatory additional training as required by the City

Dead load carry: 100m with 2 × 25kg weights

Note: Pregnant applicants are not allowed to undergo physical assessments.
Special Conditions:
- No guarantee of permanent employment after the learnership
- Must wear a uniform and work shifts in all weather conditions
- Must be able to work anywhere within or outside the City boundaries
- Must remain physically and mentally fit throughout
- May not conduct private work without written permission
- Cannot be involved in any business dealings with the State or municipality
