Who Can Apply:
The Gauteng College of Nursing is looking for committed individuals with a heart for serving others. If you meet the following requirements, you are encouraged to apply:
- You must be a South African citizen residing in Gauteng Province.
- Possess one of the following school-leaving certificates:
- Senior Certificate (Standard 10)
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4
- Preference will be given to applicants from informal settlements and hostel communities within Gauteng Province.
Academic Requirements
Here are the academic qualifications needed:
- For Senior Certificate holders:
- English HG D or SG C
- Biology HG D or SG C
- Mathematics HG D or SG C
- APS score of 17
- For National Senior Certificate holders:
- English Level 4
- Life Sciences Level 4
- Mathematics Level 4 or Mathematics Literacy Level 5
- APS score of 27 or more (Life Orientation counts toward the APS score).
- Current Grade 12 learners must meet the requirements of the National Senior Certificate and score at least 50% in key subjects, including:
- English
- Mathematics/Maths Literacy
- Life Orientation
- Vocational Subjects like SA Health Care System, Public Health, Human Body and Mind, and others
Applicants who are already working in the nursing field, such as Nursing Auxiliaries and Enrolled Nurses, are also encouraged to apply.

Psychometric Assessment and Medical Surveillance
All shortlisted candidates will undergo a compulsory psychometric assessment, which will help determine their suitability for the nursing program. In addition to the psychometric test, successful candidates will be required to undergo medical surveillance, which includes a physical examination.

- Candidates are required to scan and upload their Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate/National Certificate (Vocational), along with their final Grade 11 results or mid-year Grade 12 results. Successful candidates will be notified via the GCON online application portal.
