
SAICA Thuthuka 2026 South Africa Bursary – Now Open for Applications
The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) is proud to offer the Thuthuka Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year. This bursary is specifically designed to support Black African and Coloured students who aspire to become Chartered Accountants (CAs) and who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since its establishment, SAICA has been committed to developing skilled professionals in the field of accounting and finance, providing academic, emotional, and financial support to its bursary recipients.
Fields of Study Covered:
The Thuthuka Bursary supports students pursuing one of the following qualifications at selected SAICA-accredited universities across South Africa:
- Bachelor of Accounting (University of Johannesburg)
- Accounting Sciences (University of Pretoria)
- BAcc Science (University of Witwatersrand)
- Bachelor of Accounting / PGCA (University of Free State)
- BCom Accounting (University of Fort Hare)
- BCom / PGDA (University of Cape Town)
- Courses at the University of Western Cape
- BCom Accounting / B Rek (Stellenbosch University)
- Bachelor of Commerce (Rhodes University)
- BCom Accounting (Nelson Mandela University)
- BCom CA (North West University)
- Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting (University of KwaZulu-Natal)
- PGDA (University of Limpopo – CTA only)
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- South African citizen
- Black African or Coloured student from a disadvantaged background
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric within the last two years
- Minimum of 60% (Level 5) in Grade 11 Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy or Technical Mathematics)
- Intend to study or currently studying towards one of the approved qualifications in 2026
- Have applied or are applying to a SAICA-accredited university for one of the listed courses
- Combined family income must not exceed R350,000 per annum
- Must write or have written the National Benchmark Tests (NBT) before the bursary closing date
Bursary Benefits:
Recipients of the Thuthuka Bursary will receive full financial assistance covering:
- Tuition fees
- Books and study materials
- Meals and accommodation

Please note, the bursary does not cover any existing loans or debts.

- South African ID document
- Grade 11 final results
- Latest Matric results (if currently in Matric)
- Matric certificate (if completed)
- Proof of provisional university acceptance or registration (on university letterhead)
- Full university academic record (if currently studying)
- Parents or guardians’ ID copies
- Proof of parents’ or guardians’ income (latest payslips or affidavits if unemployed)
- ID documents or birth certificates of dependents included in the family income
- Signed Thuthuka Consent Form (.pdf)
